Little Ripples

Children have a way of teaching us the art of possibility. They naturally seek out and find what is possible with their sense of curiosity, wonder, and courage. A big part of that, of course, is that they’re relatively new to this world. Another part comes from nurturing those senses that lead them to the discoveries in which they find themselves so fascinated by.

In this case, it was a matter of slowing down to just be together, to dance in a way, to create a shared experience that didn’t have any expectations - just possibilities of what could be. A winter walk by the pond with the quiet, cold air you could see with a deep exhale. Observing her wandering eyes across the water, to spotting a weathered leaf. Then, the moment she realized she could toss the leaf into the water, there was a spark. That spark of wonder led her to see what else she could find that could send out ripples and splashes - a twig, some pebbles, more leaves.

It’s in these small, shared moments – the leaf, the ripple, the smile – that children remind us of the infinite potential in the world around us. They don’t seek perfection or certainty, only the joy of discovery and the courage to try. What if we embraced life the same way? What possibilities might we uncover if we allowed ourselves to slow down, to wonder, and to create ripples of our own?
